Week One
I haven't been feeling well the past few days. So I stayed home today. Nothing serious, just a cough that likes to flare up right before I got to bed! I'm sitting here eating some roasted chick peas which is actually delish. It kind of reminds me of french fries, a little crunchy and a little mushy. With some spices on them. Well while I'm eating my healthy snack, I can happily say that in my first week I am 5 1/2 pounds lighter then I was last week! :) Granted it's always easy in the beginning to be excited and hung-ho. So time will only tell.

Weak Spot
There are millions of people everywhere that are overweight. I unfortunantely happen to be one of them. Yeah you can say no you don't look big or you're fine the way you are. But the facts are that my bmi is considered obese. Obese = A very ugly word. This sadly has been something I have struggled with my whole life. The funny thing is looking back I was probably pretty average. Now I'm starting to get older, I've gotten "comfortable" in my relationship and I sit at a desk all day. Those 3 factors have started to take a toll on my body. I have pretty much unconsciously gained a bit of weight. My pants are slowly year by year getting tighter. I've just been in denial for the past few years, squeezing into the same size pants even though they are getting noticeably uncomfortable. I love shopping, but right now it's not that fun. I can only shop at certain places and and can only buy certains items of clothing. It's a sad thing! hah I've tried to eat healthy and I've tried excersising, usually one or the other. I love food, but I also know that I eat because of emotional reasons, and social situations. When I want to get out of the house, or if I want to socialize with a girlfriend, what do we do? Go have brunch or lunch or dinner or drinks. Eating is hardly just to sustain our bodies anymore. Before the wedding I tried weight watchers with my friend Liz. I never thought I could do it, but I ended up loving it. You go once a week, but you get the satisfaction of seeing the weight loss. And everyone celebrates with you. Everyone there is in the same boat with you. I ended up losing 16 pounds. Not all the weight I wanted, but it was a start. I ended up getting distracted by the wedding and everything going on, and stopped going. Guess what! I gained most of it back. I just ignored everything I learned and went back to eating whatever and whenever I wanted to. Well I'm back at it now, I went back to my first meeting last week. Tony came with me for moral support. It was nice to have him there with me. I know that I'm going to have to stick with it if I want to lose the weight and keep it off. I also plan to start incorporating exercise. I've gotten so lazy and couch potatoey. I'm always sluggish and just use the weather as an excuse. I have a gym membership, I just need to use it! I always felt so good after working out, it's just hard to drag myself there in the first place. Especially after a long day at work which there are a lot of those. So I just need to suck it up and MAKE the time! I don't know if this time around is going to be any different, but I really hope it is. I don't want my weight and self consciousness to hold me back anymore. Also I'm starting to get older, and I know my health is a factor. This isn't for lent or a new years resolution. It's just something I need to do with my life.

A Married Valentines Day
Last year we just had a low key valentines day since we were saving for the wedding. Just stayed in and I made an extravagant dinner for Tony. So this year we decided to go out and do something for our first valentines day as a married couple. Tony took on this task himself. I think he did a pretty good job. For our first activity we got dressed up and headed downtown to The Ohio Theatre. I had never been and it was gorgeous! Unfortunantely I didn't take anypics my self but here are a couple pictures of inside of the theatre. We saw Romeo & Juliet Opera. It was in french but luckily it had english subtitles which helped! Tony and I really enjoyed it.
Afterwards we went to a restaurant that was also downtown, called Deep Wood. Haha kind of a funny name. It was a little fancier then any places we usually eat at. But it was v-day, so we splurged. Tony had Duck and I had lamb. I had never had either. Drank some good wine and exchaged cards. It was a good time for our first Valentines day. We got to do stuff together that neither of us had ever done before. Which I think is what being a newlywed is all about! So it was a great day :)

Everyday Life
There is nothing really new going on in our lives. It seems like I go to work come home and go to sleep. It gets somewhat monotonous. We spoke with a loan officer at chase, and have finally started into the "home buying" process. That is exciting, there are just a few things we need to get in order and hopefully we will start looking soon. I am really looking forward to owning our own place. That is about it, this post was pretty lame ... sorry :( I'm hoping summer will get here soon so I can get out of the house! Starting to get cabin fever! That is all ... Jen

Changes
As humans nobody is perfect, some people are nicer or prettier or just plain "better". Everyone still has their personality flaws. I have always been very aware of my flaws. Whethere they are true or not. How can I fix all of these flaws? I want to lose weight, and I want to learn to save my money, and I want to dress nicer, and have nicer skin, and be a nicer person, not gossip, go back to school, get a better job. Where do you even begin? It becomes overwhelming. This is who I have been my whole life, all I can do is apoligize for what I've done wrong, and try to do better next time. How do you change "major" characteristics of your personality?

My New Years Resolution
My resolution or better yet my goal for this year, is to get out of debt. Last year it was hard to get out of debt when every penny had to go torwards the wedding. There wasn't a whole lot left over. Even when we were "saving" for the wedding we were still pretty bad about being frugal. It is hard for me to just sit in the house all day every weekend. It doesn't give much to look forward to. So we still went out and spent money and had fun. So far this year the past couple weekends I think we have done better to stay in. It's hard because I get restless but it's also so cold outside I don't really want to leave the house. So instead of ordering pizza's (a staple of ours) and watching movies we just stocked up on $3 pizza's at kroger. Saves us atleast $20. Also I have been being better at staying home and cooking and packing my lunches for work. I've added up the money we have previously spent on eating out and it is staggering! I think it is nice to do maybe once or twice a week, but it is definantely not condusive to saving. Also I have been trying to learn to talk myself out of certain purchases. When I think I have nothing to buy I always seem to come up with something I need. There will always be something that we "need" nobody has everything. I guess I just need to prioritize. I am organizing all of our bills and have figured out our balances on all of the credit cards so we can stop paying thouse off. If we got all of those paid off that would save us a few hundred a month on monthly bills.
Tony's resolution this year is to buy a house. Who knows when this will happen or if it will happen, but I think our goals pretty much go hand in hand. There is a bit of debt to get out of but not as much as some have aquired. We are still young, and hopefully we will learn from our revolving credit mistakes. Hoping to be first time home buyers soon!
